Why 24,785
£12.71An hour. The legal minimum, and for most of the care workforce, the going rate.
£1,780Take-home a month. The average London one-bed rents at £1,733.
£422The average crisis grant from CWC. They gave 864 of them last year.
A full-time care worker earns £24,785 a year. We are moving for 24,785 minutes to put that number in front of people, and raising money for The Care Workers' Charity while we do it. Care work is skilled work, paid at the legal floor in a cost-of-living crisis. Providers can only pay what they are funded to pay, so this is a call on government and local authorities to fund social care properly.

Minutes come off the Strava club leaderboard each Monday morning. Everyone commits to whatever fits their own week, so these columns are not a comparison and are not meant to be read as one. The only number that matters is the one at the top.
